OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL

Colored wooden statue of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, carved by hand. The Virgin owes its name to the Prophet Elijah, who residing on Mount Carmel had the vision of the Virgin. The cult for this Virgin is very old, the Carmelite order was born from her followers. She is depicted with the Scapular in her hands, one of the signs of the Church for many centuries, associated with promises of salvation that the Virgin would have made in some apparitions.
