Double Scapular Medal in 18K gold. A particular sign of devotion to the Virgin Mary, the Scapular is composed on one side of the Virgin of Carmel, on the other by the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Its use and name can be traced back to the life in the fields carried out by the monks. It seems, in fact, that initially the scapular was an apron used by themselves in order not to dirty the cassock. The great devotion to Mary then led the Carmelite monks to reduce its size, becoming a dress to be placed on the shoulder blades.
